Location and Surroundings
So close, yet so far away
The Waldhütte stands idyllically secluded in the forest on Hochpillberg in the Tux Alps. Right outside the door, you are surrounded by nature. If you want to meet other people now and then, you’ll find staffed huts and accommodation nearby, or you can sit on a bench along the Hoferweg trail.
The Waldhütte is a retreat that offers relaxation, activity, and peace throughout the year. Whether you want to hide away, stay active, or experience Tyrolean culture in the mountains and valley — everything is possible here.

Address of the Waldhütte: Hoferweg 35, A-6136 Hochpillberg / Pill
Coordinates: N 47° 18,814 E 11° 44,238
Arrival:
Motorway exit SCHWAZ, 800 m toward the center of Schwaz. At the first roundabout in Schwaz, take the first exit toward Wattens/Innsbruck for 1.5 km, and at the edge of town by the swimming pool and second roundabout, drive uphill toward Pillberg. Stay on the paved mountain road for 8.3 km until the Hochpillberg parking area. In summer: Continue along the forest road "Loasweg" (toward Loas Hütte) for 1 km. Then, you'll already see Hoferweg on the left. As this is a steep, narrow curve, drive 150 m past Hoferweg, turn around, and enter Hoferweg from above. Continue on Hoferweg for approx. 250 m and park on the left by the Waldhütte tree sign. During grazing season (approximately June to October), parking here is at your own risk. Cows roam freely and may cause damage to your car... Walk up 50 m to the right, past the red “window box” hanging from a tree. After about 80 steps, you’ll reach the Waldhütte, house number 35.
Up to the Hochpillberg parking lot same as in summer. Then park the car at the Hochpillberg parking lot and continue on foot (approx. 900 m / 15 minutes walking time), luggage transport using expedition sled “Pulka”.
By train to SCHWAZ station, then about 400 m on foot to behind the Stadtgalerien shopping mall to the "Terminal Wopfnerstraße." From there, take the Pillberg bus line no. 8 to the stop "Parkplatz Hochpillberg," then continue on foot along the Hoferweg (approx. 900 m / 15 minutes walking time) – 20 m after house number 34, turn left up into the forest (past the red window box) for 80 steps. Then you are directly in front of the Waldhütte No. 35.
